Fortnite is a top-trending game that is super fun, but can also be super addicting. It has become quite divisive in some households as kids struggle with their parents to agree on how much time they should be allowed to play this game.

Fortnite is a video game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows, Mac, and mobile that takes elements from sandbox-building games and adds the fast-paced action of a third-person shooter. There are two modes to the game: a solo version called Save the World and the hugely popular multiplayer version called Battle Royale. This survival-action game is a bit like what you'd get if you combined a sandbox-building game like Minecraft with an action shooter like Call of Duty. On one hand,

it's getting major points with kids and parents alike for building teamwork and thoughtful collaboration. On the other hand, it's a combat-based game with tons of guns and violence. Outlined below are some of the pros and cons of participating as a helpful guide to parents on playing Fortnite

Pros
● Fun, entertaining, creative and strategy building
● Option to play with your friends: stay connected and be SOCIAL
● Free to play, but you can purchase things if you want (costumes, tools, etc.

Cons
● Stranger danger: the ability to text/voice chat with anyone you play with.
● The game is not moderated (possible profanity and cyber-bullying)
● Addictive: each game can last up to 20 minutes. Anything done for long periods of time can become unhealthy, especially with regards to screen time.
● Age rating of 12+; therefore, adults can be talking to tweens and teens.

What are a few things parents should know?
● You can play with friends but will have unknowns playing with you as well.
● You can play on different platforms: games consoles, computers, and IOS devices.
● There’s a cartoonish feel to the game. When killing others, it’s not bloody or gory.
